Unique Student Identifier
If you are undertaking nationally-recognised training at a registered training organisation such as WAIFS, you need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
A USI gives you access to your online USI account, which is made up of ten numbers and letters. It will look something like this: 3AW88YH9U5. Your own USI number is necessary for you to receive the award (certificate) for whatever course you complete.
A USI account will contain all your nationally-recognised training records and results from January 2015 onwards. When applying for a job or enrolling in further study, you will often need to provide your training records and results. USI lets you have easy access to these throughout your life. You can access your USI account online anywhere, anytime.
It is simple to obtain your USI. All you have to do is access www.usi.gov.au and go to ‘Create your USI’. Have a piece of identification ready, and make sure you enter the details exactly as they are on your form of ID. Just follow the steps as they tell you on the site. Easy!
